Matching Yarn to Hook / Needle

• Fine / baby yarn: 2.0–3.5 mm hooks & needles — delicate items, baby wear.
• Light / DK yarn: 3.5–4.5 mm — garments, accessories.
• Medium / worsted & acrylic: 4.5–5.5 mm — most everyday projects.
• Chunky / blanket yarn: 6.0–12 mm — cosy blankets & quick makes.
• Velvet yarn: 4.0–6.0 mm — soft toys, blankets, cushions.

Tips

• Always check your yarn label — it usually suggests an ideal hook/needle size.
• For tighter, firmer fabric (like amigurumi), go one size smaller.
